Risograph is a process that sits somewhere between screen printing and photocopying. Each color is made by creating a stencil (called a master) and wrapping it around an ink drum inside the machine. As the drum spins at high speed, ink is pushed through the stencil and onto the paper, layer by layer, one color at a time. Risograph printing is an imperfect process, so slight variations in ink coverage, registration, and small marks or smudges are natural and part of its unique character.
