Artist: ROBERT T. DUDENHOEFER II

As a youth Rob worked at his parent’s small manufacturing shop in Pinckney, Michigan. Drilling thousands of holes in auto parts tends to make the mind wander.  So began his exploration into metalworking. After receiving a BFA from the University of Michigan, Rob manufactured wind chimes, apprenticed as a goldsmith and eventually become a stay at home dad. As a creative outlet, he began metalworking in his garage.

Among other things, Rob designs and fabricates whimsical sterling silver jewelry in Oregon. Inspiration is drawn from children’s drawings as well as experimentation at the jeweler’s bench. Articulated elements are incorporated into his pieces in order to bring more life to each design. All designs are fabricated in small batches so that each piece retains individuality and receives full attention from beginning to completion. Rob utilizes a variety of sheet, wire and tube stock that is sawn, pierced, formed, riveted and soldered. These elements are then oxidized and individually matte finished.

Found discovered this unique artist at the annual Ann Arbor Art Fair, and just knew our customers would love his work year-round.  We are pleased to carry Rob’s jewelry including his popular robot earrings, each pair with a unique color pattern and funky style.
